The map menu shows the active context layer. Choose Places, LNMs, or Weather; only one dense layer is shown at a time so the map remains readable.
Local Notices to Mariners
Review notices returned for the current map area. Use Notice filters to adjust the default categories or show all notices. Seaward groupings are planning aids, not official severity ratings.
Weather
Select a marine forecast zone to read the associated Coastal Waters Forecast and source details. This is source planning context, not a Seaward forecast.
Refresh after moving the map
Results stay tied to the area that was last loaded. After panning or zooming, choose Refresh area to load Places, LNMs, or Weather for the new view.
Open details without losing the map
Select a map feature to open its details. On a phone, use Expand details to make room, then Collapse details or Close when you want more map space.
Trip planner
Turn the area into a route-aware plan.
Step 1
Open Trip planner
Open the map menu and choose Trip planner. The planning controls stay out of the way until you need them.
Step 2
Sketch the route
Choose Start route, then add numbered waypoints on the map in travel order. Drag a waypoint to correct it; use Undo or clear the route when needed.
Step 3
Add stops and trip details
Use Add stop for marinas, anchorages, fuel, meals, overnights, or other planned stops. Open Trip details for timing, boat, crew, and trip context.
Step 4
Save, then create the brief
You can browse and sketch before signing in. Sign in when you are ready to save the trip or generate a route-aware Seaward Brief.

Seaward supports your pre-departure review. It does not make the decision for you.
Verify current charts, Local Notices to Mariners, weather, tides, currents, onboard instruments, and local knowledge before departure. Conditions and source data can change. A Seaward Brief does not declare a route safe, replace navigation equipment, or provide emergency monitoring.
Share float plans with trusted people ashore. Emergency services such as the USCG do not accept Seaward float plans directly; your shore contact should know when and how to contact rescue authorities if you are overdue.
